Removing personal data

Mint keeps guest and contact data until you remove it. There are three ways to remove it:

You want to… Use
Delete everything about one person, for example after a deletion request Erase the person
Remove the personal details of everyone who came to one event Anonymise the event
Remove old data without having to remember Automatic retention

In every case, Mint keeps the numbers: how many people registered, attended and opened your emails, and how much you took in ticket sales. Your reports stay correct.

Open the person in Contacts and select Erase person. Their contact is deleted, and their details are removed from every event they were on. See Erasing a person for exactly what’s removed and kept.

Anonymising removes the personal details of every guest on one event. Use it once an event is over and you no longer need to know who came.

  1. Open the event’s settings

Go to Events, open the event and select the Settings tab.

  2. Select Anonymise

In the Privacy & lifecycle card, next to Anonymise guest data, select Anonymise.

  3. Confirm

Read the message and select Anonymise again.

For every guest on the event, Mint removes their name, email, company, job title, phone, date of birth, answers and notes, and their link to anyone’s related people. Names and emails on orders and email records are removed too. Guests are shown as “Anonymised”.

Statuses, check-ins, order totals and email open and click figures are kept.

The event’s header then shows Guest data anonymised, and the button reads Anonymised.

Your organisation can choose to have Mint:

  • anonymise each event’s guest data a set number of days after the event ends, and
  • erase contacts who have had no registrations, check-ins or edits for a set number of days.

Both are off by default. You turn them on in the Data retention card on your organisation’s Settings page. See Organisation settings.

Erasing or anonymising doesn’t remove anyone from your suppression list. An address that has unsubscribed or bounced is never emailed again, even if that person is erased. See Organisation settings.

Erasing people, anonymising events and changing the automatic retention settings need the Data retention & anonymisation permission. By default only the Admin role has it.
