Using tracking links
A tracking link is your event page’s address with a short code on the end. Give a different one to each email, social post or partner, and you can see which ones bring people in.
A link can also unlock a hidden ticket, so only people with the link can have it.
Tracking links work on any event, with or without tickets. To create or delete them you need the Edit event details & settings permission. By default the Admin, Group Manager and Event Organiser roles have it.
Create a tracking link
Section titled “Create a tracking link”-
Open the event’s Tracking links tab
Go to Events, open your event and select the Tracking links tab.
-
Select “New link”
Select New link.
-
Give it a label
Enter a Label that tells you where the link will be used, for example “LinkedIn” or “Partner – Acme”. Guests don’t see it.
-
Choose a code, if you like
The code is the part on the end of the link. Leave Custom code (optional) empty and Mint makes one from the label. If you enter your own, use lower-case letters, numbers and hyphens. Each code must be different within the event.
-
Choose what the link unlocks
On a ticketed event, you can also choose Unlock hidden ticket: one of your hidden tickets. It’s offered only to people who arrive through this link.
-
Create the link
Select Create link.
You can’t edit a link once it’s created. To change one, delete it with the bin icon and create a new one. Create the hidden ticket first, so you can choose it here.
Share the link
Section titled “Share the link”Each link in the list has its full address underneath, with a button to copy it. Paste it into your email, post or message to a partner.
Links that unlock a hidden ticket show an Unlocks hidden tickets badge.
What the numbers mean
Section titled “What the numbers mean”| Column | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Views | Every time someone opens your event page through the link |
| Registrations | Every time someone submits the registration form after arriving through the link |
| Conversion | Registrations as a share of views |
Views are counted each time the page is opened, so one person visiting twice counts twice.
What guests see
Section titled “What guests see”Guests who open your event page through a tracking link see the same page as everyone else, except that a hidden ticket the link unlocks appears in the ticket list alongside your public tickets.
The link only applies while they stay on the page they opened. If they come back later through your normal event page address, the hidden ticket isn’t there.
